{ Positions in a Clan }
Invented by Seventh
Captain- The leader and ruler of a clan. Their word is law although before important decisions are made they usually consult with the Duxes.
Dux(es)- The second-in-command of a clan. They have a high position and are next in the line of command after the Captain. Disobeying their word is just as bad as disobeying the Captain.
Heir- A young cat that the Captain trains to succeed after him. Most often it is the Captain who trains him or her but it does not always have to be the Captain's child that gets picked to be the Heir.
Dux Hunter- The leader of the hunters. They arrange the hunting parties to make sure that the group is well fed at all times. They also send out worthy hunters to scout out the territory for any new movements of prey or of rival groups or cats.
Dux Fighter- The leader of the fighters. They make sure the fighters are all in shape and ready to fight if the need arises. The Dux Fighter also organizes the border patrols for the group.
Medicus- The healer for the group. If any medical problem arises they take care of the feline.
Hunters- They go out and find prey for the group. They are in charge of making sure the group is well-fed. Some hunters may also be asked to scout out the territory to track new movements of prey or anything that can be seen as a threat.
Fighters- The army for a clan. They are ready for any attacks and are expected to go out and patrol the borders.
Haedus- The adolescents of the group. They are too young still to receive an actual position in the group and thus train under whichever position they seem best suited for: whether that be a hunter, fighter or medicus.
Matres- The felines that are nursing or pregnant. Until they are able to return to their original jobs they are off-duty as matres.
Cubs- The felines that still depend on their mothers for care. Until they reach the age of a year and become haedus they are cubs.
Prisoners- Felines that have been taken captive from rival groups or that are unfortunate enough to be caught while wandering alone and haven't been accepted into the group yet. Prisoners are also cats that have been caught breaking the rules of the group and are awaiting punishment.
