{ NAME } Leo

{ GROUP } Loner (Travels with sister)
{ SPECIES } African Lion
{ APPEARANCE } Leo is a large lioness. She is around five and a half feet long, and four feet tall. She is heavy, but by no means fat. The weight is mostly pure muscle, and it is visibly when Leo moves. That is one of the many ways she differs from her younger sister, Whisper. Whisper is a smaller lion, whereas she is quite big. Whisper also has a light cream colored coat, whereas Leo has a beautiful tawny coat. The tips of her coat is a brilliant gold, giving her a shimmery golden sheen to her short and sleek coat. Her chest and stomach are a slightly lighter color than her back, haunches and head.
Her face is very beautiful, yet is marred by a large claw scratch over her eye. She got the scar in the same incident where she got a quarter of her tail cut off. Her tail is now rounded at the end, with no clump of fur that is on most lion's tails. A few more scars litter her large body, though none are as easy to see as the long, red scratches over her left eye. Leo's eyes are not as unique as her sister's beautiful dark and stormy blue eyes, for they are a brilliant gold. Most lions have brown eyes, and a few have yellow, though not many have striking gold eyes such as hers. They are like melted gold, and they have very, very dark pupils. Her eyes often haunt others minds, even when they are far away from Leo.
As mentioned before, Leo's face is quite striking, even though it is usually decorated with a scowl. Her eyes are always angry, and her scowl confirms that. Leo does not try to hide her unhappiness, and it often throws others, as they try to guess what they did to make her so angry. Truth to be told, it is not them. Leo is famous for holding grudges, and even now the scowl has not left her face. She has many tones of voice, one specially for her little sister. It is playful and kind. However, when talking to a stranger [or anyone else, for that matter] it is gruff and annoyed. She has a sharp mind, and an even sharper tongue, and when taunting someone her voice will become slightly higher, and will have a almost playful tone, but the edge of her voice is dipped in anger.
{ PERSONALITY } In short, Leo is the opposite of her friendly sister. Where her sister is kind, Leo is mean. Where Whisper is loyal, Leo is totally care free, and, sadly, a true backstabber. Only two people in her life have won her loyalty, and it was through hard work, and, of course, time. Whisper, and Leo's father. Those are the only two that Leo really cares for, and that is all Leo thinks she needs. Leo doesn't like having a relationship with someone, for that raises the chances of being betrayed. She works completely solo, and that is how she likes it. Unless, of course, Whisper is there. Whisper is possibly the only thing that Leo has a soft spot for. Leo loves her father, but would choose Whisper over him in a second. The huge lioness is rude to everyone, save Whisper.
Whisper is one of Leo's weaknesses. Leo will do almost anything that her little sister wants, and would go to the end of the world for her. When her father was being too tough on her, and her mother was annoyed with her, Leo would go to Whisper. Whisper was kind to her, and would listen to her angry rantings, and since then Leo is overly protective of her. If anyone dares to threaten Whisper, they will be dealing with three hundred pounds of an angry, overly protective, big sister.
Usually Leo uses her size to intimidate, but will not hold back if she gets a chance to fight. In fact, sometimes she picks a fight, to Whisper's disapproval. Though Leo is brawn, she also has brains. She is very intelligent, though usually lets Whisper do the thinking. Leo would rather fight first, ask questions later. She can hunt, though is not the best. Most often Whisper chases the animal down, and Leo snaps the neck.
Though Leo is not the most wonderful lion to be with, once you have spent enough time in her company, you may find you are actually enjoying being with her. She is okay company, as long as you haven't previously offended her. Leo has a stubborn streak a mile wide, and is infamous for holding grudges. However, once she has managed to accept that you aren't going away any time soon, she will become bearable. Not friendly, oh no, but bearable. It is then when you see that she was not always a stubborn, rude, unfriendly, hostile, annoying, and grumpy beast.
{ HISTORY } Leo was born and raised in a fairly large lion pride. She had two litter mates, but the only male was stillborn. Her surviving sister was named Whisper, and her father picked out the name Leo. He was still sore from losing his son, and vowed he would make Leo the son he couldn't have. So, as Whisper was nuzzled and groomed by their creamy colored mother, Leo went off with her tawny and golden father. The cubs even looked like their favorite parents. Leo worked hard and long with her father as he trained her in the art of fighting. She was a female, yes, but he would turn her into something worthy of a pride leader.
And so he did. Leo worked furiously to reach her father's sky-high standards. But, as she learned under her father's hard gaze, she began to act like him. He was cold, rude, and vicious. Soon Leo had picked up all of those traits, and soon mirrored how he was without thinking. Her mother was not pleased with her. As Leo had been with her father, Whisper had been with their mother, and soon Whisper was considered as the 'perfect daughter', in their mother's eyes, of course. Leo was often scolded by her mother, and Whisper was often scolded by their father. The harsh words seemed to roll of of Whisper's back, but Leo was saddened by her mother's disappointed reprimands.
But instead of pleasing her mother, Leo stayed by her father's side, and as every day passed, grew meaner and colder. The scoldings came more often, but Leo kept on turning into a female version of her cold father. One day, as Leo was out hunting, an unexpected stampede began, and Leo was trampled. She escaped alive, but her tail had been repeatedly stamped on. It had been torn in half, and when Leo went back to her father, he was very angry at her foolishness. He clawed her face, and from then on, she has three angry scratch marks. Finally, she and Whisper left. Leo no longer cowered in her father's shadow, and she felt free. However, her rude attitude stuck with her, and it still is there, to this very day.
