The birds made joyful tweeting noises in the trees while the herd of grazers meandered slowly back and forth across the plains. Completely at ease, even with the slim form of the cheetah watching them. Maybe they felt no danger from the carnivore as the unfocused eyes of the beast seemed off... As if she weren't all there. Which wasn't far from the truth since at that moment the cheetah, known as Dreamwalker to most, was in one of her daydreams.
Her mind was far away in sunlit fields where she and her king cheetah friend played without a care in the world. The thoughts in her mind were far more pleasant than her actual reality, the one she had to live in day to day... The reality of living without the "family" that she had been raised in... She hated not being with them since she was forced to make decisions on her own. It was hard being by herself... She didn't know how to initiate a hunt, even when the prey was practically dancing before her eyes as it was doing now. The dream-walking cheetah was forced to search for carrion by following vultures.
The cheetah's good eye remained unfocused as her mind continued to roam the realms of her imagination as she lay on the ground beneath a baobab tree. The only sound that managed to pull Dreamwalker out of the deep trance that she placed herself within was an abnormally loud alarm call from the birds in the tree. The pale cheetah looked upwards at the birds, unsure of what to do. Should this one run? Or stay? Could be nothing... Whatever frightens the fliers could be no cause of concern for predators... But again it could be hyenas or something worse... Dreamwalker rose to a sitting position but remained in the same spot... Deciding to let fate decide what would happen.

Silhouette
There was yet another creature in the lands called simply The Baobab Plains. Indeed the creature was quite different from the first, but they still were near in species somewhat. The other female was not a Cheetahess, instead she was a large Bengal Tigress. And not just any Tigress either. This cat in particular was Silhouette, one of the few of the minute number of Tigers around the area. It had been a while since Sil had set eyes upon one of her own. The Bengal female was seemingly floating through the lands, with nothing much on her mind. She placed one paw in front of the other, and her tail hung low near her ankles. Silhouette was like a shadow, and did not make a sound in her wake. Silhouette’s mouth hung open slightly though, allowing her to pant lightly.
In the Savannah, temperatures could climb higher and higher without much difficulty. The ancient Baobab trees could possibly provide some relief. The female’s lime green eyes searched the area in detail and she committed it to her memory easily. It is said that Sil has a photographic memory, though it has yet to be proven completely true. The burnt orange Tiger hadn’t come into these lands to start any trouble; she was simply a loner wandering through all on her own. Silhouette was amongst those of her species who preferred to be alone most of the time. She was unlike silly Lions, traveling in large prides and making a ruckus everywhere they went. That was not Silhouette’s style at all. She was more of the placid type, an observer, and she only stepped in when necessary. If she could stay out of trouble and out of others business, she would. Silhouette was padding into the Baobab plains when she spotted a large herd of Antelope in her line of view. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and Sil’s ears rotated on her head. The white spots on her ears were clearly visible as she did so. She was picking up on all the sounds around her within range. The birds above her head chirped loudly in her ears, and Silhouette could almost hear the Antelope munching the grass at their hooves clearly. The female Tigress’ stomach rumbled deeply and a gnawing feeling gripped her stomach. Silhouette had to make a quick decision as to if she should go for an Antelope and satisfy her hunger, or hang back and wait for another opportunity. It only took a few seconds for the decision to be made though, and Silhouette lowered her body towards the ground. Silhouette’s shoulders rocked in their sockets, and a low growl rumbled the female’s vocal chords. She crept closer and closer to the herbivores, though they weren’t on high alert yet. Within an instant however, there was a flash of orange, black, and white, and Silhouette burst into action. The birds squawked loudly in a frenzied manner, and took to the air quickly. Though they weren’t the intended targets, birds were the common signals of danger. Silhouette singled out a little calf, which had strayed a little bit too far away from its mother. Sil was a practiced huntress, and she overtook the small creature within seconds. Neither the calf, nor the rest of the herd knew what was going on for a moment. Then when the shock factor had worn off, the herd sped away from the predator, leaving the small one behind. Silhouette gripped the small calf by the neck, and she stood with her prize in her mouth. The Bengal Tigress began to eat a few seconds later, eating meat, cracking bones, and enjoying the marrow inside. Sil loved the marrow. After she was finished eating, Silhouette’s pink tongue swiped over her lips and paws, making sure they were clean.
It was then that the female Cheetahess caught Silhouette’s attention and she dropped the half-eaten carcass to the ground. With her stomach full, there wouldn’t be a problem between the two of them, unless of course the Cheetah wanted conflict. That wouldn’t be a smart move on the Cheetah’s part though. Normally Tigers, Lions, and even Hyenas chased away Cheetahs, a problem shouldn’t exist today.

Fate happened to be a kind mistress that day, or at least it was to the cheetah, not the unfortunate antelope. The slightly unfocused gaze of the cheetah saw movement a little bit away from the beasts then an orange and black striped shape zoomed out of the brush, rushing at the herd. The hoofed beasts scattered at the sign of danger, leaving behind the weakest and most vulnerable of them all... a calf.
Dreamwalker watched as the calf was gripped by the large figure of the tigress, the calf's life was ended then and there. Such an easy catch, the tigress made it look simple and Dreamwalker was impressed. She watched silently as the tiger settled down to eat part of the catch... The wind blew and the scent of warm blood and meat made Dreamwalker's stomach rumble. It had been a while since she'd eaten and the scruffy-looking cheetah was due for her next meal. Although stealing from the tiger probably wasn't the smartest idea (not that Dream would attempt it unless told anyway). She would probably just have to go hungry... unless the tiger didn't completely eat all of the calf...
Dream's gaze watched the tigress finishing her meal with renewed interest... Maybe just maybe she wouldn't finish... Dreamwalker's wish was granted as the striped feline dropped the half-eaten calf to the ground and started to clean herself with her attention seemingly focused on Dream. That was all to the good since the cheetah needed to speak her request to the tiger.
Making up her mind she raised to her feet and walked over to the tigress, her eye looking towards the tigress while her nose sniffed the welcoming scent of prey. When the cheetah was within speaking distance she stopped, cleared her throat, and spoke in the kindest voice she had. "This one couldn't help with watching the striped-one eat and she is sorry... But she was wondering if the striped-one wouldn't mind sharing the prey. This one hasn't eaten in quite a while..." Dreamwalker hated how awkward she sounded when trying to speak with others but it couldn't be helped. Dream just hoped that the tigress felt like sharing her food, she was finished after all.

Silhouette
Silhouette was feeling good now that her hunger had been satisfied fully. It seemed that all was well for the Tigress at the moment. She had been provided with an easy meal and it was a lovely day outside today. The sun was shining and Sil had nothing to complain about her life. She wasn’t sick, she wasn’t fatigued, and she probably was in the ideal situation then. Once she was finished with her meal, Sil pulled herself into a sit, and wrapped her tail around her large paws. The Bengal looked around again, examining her surroundings and all its fine details. A complacent look was on her features and her eyes held a sense of joy in them. It didn’t look like she was going to be pestered by Hyenas or annoyed by Lions any time soon. They were nowhere to be found in the area. Vultures would be another story in a matter of minutes though, if this calf wasn’t completely gone soon. The birds from before were bound to return to the Baobab trees they called home, and with them, the greedy, disgusting Vultures. Those birds were perhaps the worst scavengers ever on the face of the planet. Their hooked beaks and almost bald heads were so unappealing to look at, not to mention the noise they made. While she wasn’t disturbed by other birds, Vultures kind of made her skin crawl a little bit. Silhouette wasn’t going to let them get her down though; she was in too good of a mood. Plus, she would just walk away when they came. She had eaten her fill and wasn’t feeling like a glutton. There was no reason to stand and guard a small calf now.
As the female Tiger was sitting on her haunches with a short smile on her face, she noticed that the Cheetah from before was approaching her. Sil was examining the situation carefully, judging the other cat’s body posture and mannerisms. The Tigress assumed that all would be ok, seeing as she never raised a paw against someone for no reason. This Cheetahess seemed calm enough to her and the situation was relaxed. Finally when the other female came within a short distance of her, Silhouette wondered what their meeting would entail. She might as well wait and see though, for there was nothing else for her to do at that exact moment. Escaping those funky Vultures could wait a while longer.
Silhouette was a bit puzzled by the Cheetah’s speech a little bit, and she tilted her head to the left for a few seconds before tilting it back to the normal angle in a questioning way. After deciphering the message presented to her, Sil stood up and stepped out of the way in a few strides. “I wouldn’t mind at all, I’ve eaten all that I need. Feel free,” the Tigress said simply. Silhouette pushed the small carcass with her nose towards the smaller feline without a second thought. She padded a short distance away, so that the other feline could eat her fill in peace. It would be rather awkward to her if she stood by and watched the unknown female eat that closely. Sil was intrigued by her newest acquaintance, and so she didn’t go too far though. She would wait for a while so that she could learn more about her. She had never seen anything like this particular Cheetah in her entire life.
In the meantime though, Silhouette would be on the lookout for those pesky birds who cast shadows in the skies sometimes. The Tigress felt a soft breeze ruffle her fur, and she close her green eyes in pleasure. She could tell that coming to these lands was a good idea. Perhaps even with those mangy birds, Sil could get used to this place in time. It was nice and comfortable, plus there was also plenty of food and other cats that seemed placid enough. Sil could only wait and see how this first encounter would go though. Then maybe she could make an even better judgment of this place. Silhouette didn’t like confrontations, so if all went smoothly here, perhaps she could stay awhile.

Dreamwalker didn't need to be told twice. She walked over to the half-eaten calf and set to work on finishing it off. As she had stated it had been awhile since she'd last eaten and it showed as she started to ravenously eat the remainder of the tigress' meal. It took her only about a minute to finish off the rest of the prey, even after it was finished she started to chew on some of the bones to get to the tasty marrow inside. Finally she was satisfied and she raised her head, her tongue running once around her chops to clean her jowls.
Now her unfocused gaze drifted over to the tiger who had shared her prey. Gratitude shined in her eyes as she approached the larger feline, then she dipped her head once in thanks before lifting it so she could see the tiger again. "The belly is full and this one feels gratitude towards the striped one, so she says 'thank-you'." At least that was what her king cheetah friend had taught her to say when she felt grateful to someone for helping but she hoped that she'd put the words in correct order. Sincerely hoping that her words were correct Dreamwalker gave a friendly smile before continuing on. "This one is called Dreamwalker but please, what is the name of the striped one? It is not known. " In her own way the she-cheetah was asking the tiger what her name was.
She didn't know if the other female would feel comfortable giving out her name but since she'd helped Dreamwalker so the cheetah figured it would be only fair to hear the tiger's name. After all, it was only fair that she should be able to thank the tiger by name. Maybe the tiger would even want to have her as company... Dream hoped so, she sorely missed having others around her at all times. Growing up as she had made the she-cheetah dependent upon group living and it was only a matter of time before she had to find a group or companion to travel with.

Silhouette
The burnt orange Bengal Tigress was minding her own business, feeling the breeze, when she heard the voice of the other female. Silhouette’s eyes opened abruptly, and she turned to face the Cheetahess once more, a short smile on her features. So clearly there would be no problems or confrontation between the two. Silhouette was a placid creature, and the female beside her seemed to be as well. Each of the cats was different in their own right, but nothing seemed amiss. Who said that cats of a different species could not learn to get along? There was not some imaginary bubble keeping one species of cat from interacting with another one. It seemed to be nature’s way, as it brought the most unlikely cats together.
The Bengal female listened carefully to the words that came from the other’s mouth, and a simple nod was given in return. “You’re welcome. I am glad that it could be of use to you,” Sil responded in a friendly manner. The Tigress appreciated having someone kind and lucid to interact with, for she did not waste her breath on meaningless conversation. Though the Cheetahess had a weird and somewhat awkward way of referring to herself, Silhouette could disregard that fact with ease. She understood the other female enough so that it would not bother her so much now or anytime soon. Sil was open to meeting interesting cats, especially those that were of the unique variety. Life got boring with the same cookie cutter cats, which had no dimension or depth to their personality. Those that could not form their own opinions and who were shaped by others were not worth Silhouette’s time. Though this was true however, she would give someone a chance to prove that they were more than they seemed.
When Dreamwalker introduced herself the Bengal female immediately committed it to her memory. She matched the name with the face and it would not be soon forgotten. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Dreamwalker. I am called Silhouette.” It was only proper to introduce oneself amongst the company of another, especially when requested. Sil could not refuse, for if she did, her manners would have escaped her. The orange, white, and black beast had been raised better than that. Though she was born and raised a feline, that was no matter. As long as Silhouette was shown respect, then she would reciprocate the action without question. Deep within every fiber of her being, that was what had been placed there. It was engrained in her mind forever to treat others as they should be treated. That was the so-called “Golden Rule” by her parents, family, and the most influential Tigers in her life.
Silhouette took a short glance to the skies, and without the appearance of the birds, returned her attention to Dreamwalker. She was pleased to know that since the remains that she did not eat of the calf were gone, the Vultures would have to venture elsewhere and leave her be. Even if they did show up to this particular location, chasing them away might be a fun adventure. “So, what brings you here to the Baobab Plains, Dreamwalker? Were you just searching for food or did something else bring you here?” The Tigress readjusted her seat as she sat there, shifting her weight from one side to the other. Sil’s tail brushed the ground as she did so, and then reassumed its position around the Bengal’s large paws. This was a normal thing for Sil to do while she was sitting; otherwise her three inch long tail would just flop behind her. Sometimes, she would tap the tip of her tail on the ground in a slow, steady rhythm that only Silhouette could hear in her head. For now though, the striped tail remained wrapped around her paws, as usual. The female Tiger’s ears rotated on her head still, always listening and hearing the things around her, but Silhouette was still cognizant of Dreamwalker and all that she had to say. Sil wanted to learn more about the Cheetahess, so she had her full attention. This was the first time she’d talked to anyone here in the plains, and she wanted to remain completely focused.

Silhouette. She committed the name to memory in case she ever met the tigress again. Contrary to popular belief, the cheetah had quite a head on shoulders and it was only a matter of getting her to use it... The cheetess mirrored the tiger before her and sat down with her spotted tail and its bald tip wrapping around her forepaws. "Is a pleasure to meet Silhouette as well." The cheetah's eye shone as she looked at the tigress.
Completely attentive of the tigress, Dreamwalker noticed that she seemed to be concerned with the sky... Or at least was concerned with the sky. Why? Was she nervous of the scavenging-fliers? They shouldn't come now that the carcass of the calf had been stripped bare, thanks to her. The thought of being allowed to finish off the carcass made her happy, it had been a while since the cheetah had eaten fresh meat; even when she was with her "family" she'd usually been one of the last to eat so there was no chance to eat her fill... Sure, she'd been able to crack bones to get the marrow but never eat her fill as others were allowed to eat most of the meal away. Dream never complained though... Why complain anyway? It would just get you punished with the removing-of-the-tail-fur. Just like her own tail...
"-you here to the Baobab Plains, Dreamwalker? Were you just searching for food or did something else bring you here?” The cheetess snapped out of the trance she'd been in, completely unaware that time had passed. Her ears perked forward to hear the rest of the tigress' words as she spoke them. Unfortunately she had missed the first part of the sentence but luckily she could put together the rest of it so she knew what Silhouette was asking. The only thing she didn't like was the use of the word "you"... Back in her family there was no you, or
|
me or anything! It was simple... It was just the family... That's all everything was and life had been so easy... Now it was complicated and hard. Without her friend there was no way she could have lived as long as she had or even understand what anyone else was saying to her. "This one here because the paws." Here she paused and lifted a forepaw into the air before going on. "The paws were tired so Dreamwalker had to rest them and this seemed like good place. So she stopped here. Nothing special brought this one to rest under large tree." Indeed, if Silhouette was expecting anything special from the cheetess then she would get nothing as the cheetah was there for simple reasons. "Silhouette? What makes... Why?" The cheetah's forehead wrinkled as she tried to think of the correct words to ask what she wanted. Frustrated, she scuffed the ground with a claw on her forepaw before finally finding the correct words to use in her question. "Silhouette why here come to Plains? Is special reason or just to hunt?" Dreamwalker didn't understand why the words wouldn't come to her sometimes, just like at that time when she wanted to ask such a simple question. The teachings she had recieved helped but she would never use words like "you" or "me" to help herself out. To the dream walking cheetah such words didn't seem natural. "Words are this color!" These are thoughts!

Silhouette
Silhouette thought that though they had merely known each other for little more than a few minutes that the Cheetess seemed like an amiable companion. Their demeanors seemed to fit rather well together, and the circumstances in which they had met seemed like the prime situation. Both were cats coming to a common meeting place for a common reason, to find decent food, shelter, and to rest a little bit. Sil’s past few months and years as an adult Tigress had not been that taxing, and for that she was extremely grateful. She only really had one major event in her lifetime that influenced her too greatly. That day she was walking with her sister, and a male Tiger randomly attacked them. Some Tiger’s behavior was unjustifiable. Males would sometimes lash out at another’s cubs, often killing them, just because of the fact that they were another male’s cubs and not their own. Silhouette eventually came out of the ordeal fine, though she got some physical and emotional scars. These days though, she only had to find food, shelter, and company. Today she had done just that in such a simple manner. All of her current needs were satisfied at the moment. The life of Tiger was manageable and easy for Sil right now. She could take care of herself, and live in prosperity, as she should. The only things that she had to deal with were the birds. Those things were ugly mangy, disgusting birds to say the least. Who would want to stand by and let them do such a thing? Not Silhouette. So what they were “cleaning up the savannah.” The Tigress despised them with a bloody fury. When she had glanced up to the sky once more, they shadows of the birds began circling overhead in a slow manner. Other birds were also returning to their nests from which they had flown at Silhouette’s arrival. Great. But Vultures were not that difficult to persuade to leave. A simple few “words” with them, and they would disappear for a while.
Silhouette nodded at Dreamwalker’s response to her question. She was amused slightly by the fact that the Cheetahess had to demonstrate what had brought her here by showing her paw. It was then that the Tigress realized how big her paws were in comparison to the Cheetah’s. And she was interested in the fact that she could retract her claws, and Dreamwalker could not. Tiger’s claws were more like switchblades, while Cheetah’s were like sais. Silhouette raised one of her own paws as well, and she flexed her fingers slowly before putting her paw back down. “I came here merely as a wanderer too, and happened upon the calf by chance. I just took advantage of an easy meal as it came to me,” Sil stated matter-of-factly. The Tigress went quiet for a second, as more and more thoughts entered her head. “Hey Dreamwalker, are your paws fully rested right now? I have something fun in mind that we can do, if you’re up to it.” |
A sly sort of look crossed the female’s features, and she lifted herself to her paws with ease. The burnt orange colored creature gave a stretch to her forelegs and hind legs as she did so. Silhouette bent her front half to the ground, and her bum waggled in the air. The Tigress’ tail waived as well, showing her building enthusiasm. There seemed to be a sudden surge of energy pulsing through Silhouette’s body that came from nowhere. As she stood there, with her front end dipped in a cublike play position, Sil finally voiced her intentions. “You see those Vultures up there? The ones kinda hanging around in the air all creepy like? When they land, you wanna give them a run for their money?” Silhouette knew that in speed, Dreamwalker could blow her away and out of the water. The Tigress had stamina and endurance though, to make up for that. Obviously they were both very strong and intelligible creatures; otherwise they would not be living to this very day. They were carnivores, powerful, stunning machines. They were built to rule the animal kingdom, and that was no lie. .Tags. Dreamwalker .Muse. Bleh .Número de palabras. 700 .Notes.Yay!
